VETERANS' DAY - Thank you!

As the child of a career soldier I have a soft spot for the US MILITARY. As a US Citizen who enjoys her rights and freedoms I am forever grateful to our US MILITARY.

This page is my father - receiving the Soldier's Medal from Lt. General Throckmorton. Dad earned this medal during one of his 3 tours of service in Vietnam. And while my Dad was honored I know that many acts of bravery go unnoticed and a simple thank you is not enough for the sacrifices soldiers and their families make. But I personally want to say THANK YOU and to let you know that for those who serve you are always part of my prayers.

CUSTOM EMBELLISHMENTS

Was working on some "old" photos - have to scrapbook those too - and needed some jumbo gold brads and some gold ribbon. Instead of buying something I figured out how to make what I wanted with what I already have on hand. Give it a try - many items in your stash can be altered with versamark and embossing powder and many of your ribbons can be altered with dying, sponging, markers, etc. Save a few pennies for staples such as Big shot dies, ink pads, punches and GET EXACTLY what you want on a page!

JUMBO GOLD BRADS - BUILD A BRAD - smoosh in versamark, coat with gold embossing powder - shake excess off - heat and VOILA jumbo gold brads.

GOLD RIBBON - run ribbon through Gold encore pad until desired shade of gold obtained. Does not dry well so use last on your page. (If anyone has any tips for getting it to dry thoroughly let me know).

FIRST LT Bars - Coated a piece of silver cardstock with versamark and embossed silver, cut to fit inside my stylized silver hodgepodge.


US ARMY PAGE - Hunter Green Cardstock, Sahara Sand Cardstock, Simple Serif Big Shot Alphabet, Build a Brad, White Organdy Ribbon.

FIRST LT - Sage Shadow Cardstock, To the Nines DSP, Orchard Ribbon Originals, Brushed Silver Cardstock, Versamark, Silver Embossing Powder, Timeless Type Big Shot Alphabet Stampin' UP!, Stylized Silver Hodge podge.

Introducing New Scrapbook Classes

Beginning this month I will be adding a scrapbook class to my line up - Come complete 3 2 page 12x12 layouts. Photos not required but are encouraged so that you leave with finished pages not just layouts.

Don't scrap 12x12? We can work with you to adjust the layouts to 8 1/2 x 11.
Don' thave enough photos for a 2 page spread - we can adapt the pages to be 6 single 12x12 layouts.
Don't "stamp" in your layouts - don't worry - you are not required to use any product/embellishments on the layouts there will be room for creativity.

We are flexible and here to help you enjoy scrapbooking, not conform to "must be this way" rules.

Each class will include - all supplies, suggested photo list, pages that feature great cardstock, designer paper, big shot dies, stamps, embellishments, me - your creative coach, coffee, tea, chocolate.

Each class will feature both seasonal layouts and what I like to call "life layouts" Because we need to capture more than just the special occasions.

Whether you are a beginner or have experience you will be comfortable in this class.
Whether you scrapbook chronologically or on a whim like me you will be comfortable in this class.

Hope you join us. Bring a Friend - this is the perfect class to share your passion with them and get them hooked so you have a partner in crime!

We SAIL into 2010 on January 16th - here's the scoop - remember our events are open to all demonstrators and the public. Our first event of the year is January 16th 9am-1pm.  All events are held at the Ramada Inn, Arsenal Road, York, PA.

January's event will feature a focus on SHIPPING - Friendship, Ownership, Leadership, Craftmanship and more. In addition we will add fun things like Ship Punch projects, Lifesavers, a few boat songs and some new techniques. Our make n'takes will feature SAB & New Occasions Mini Product and of course we will have our usual line up of make n'takes, displays, prize patrol, swap card contest, chocolate and show n' share.

So grab your sailor hat, sailor suit and maybe even a sailor and come join us on January 16th.

Table Setting Die - this was another of our make n'takes - everyone got to make a sweet gift box and learn how to make a rosette - the "twist" on this one is how we use the knot in the ribbon around the box for the center of the rosette.


Chalked Gridlines - we began a technique rolodex in August and continued it this month by adding technique cards for Chalked Gridlines and Smooshed Acetate. We will 2 more in January. We also added 1 at our monthly Diva Day

RIBBON OF HOPE

This past year we started something new at our RemARKable Gatherings - at least one of our make n'takes is a service project. We have created valentines for moms & kids at women's shelters, we have created 6x6 pages for ultrasounds at our crisis pregnancy center and this past month we created notecards for a local group called P.I.N.K. An organization that supports breast cancer victims/survivors.

Almost 100 note cards and envelopes for them to send thank you's, notes of encouragement, reminders, etc.
